The Oscars Selection Committee of Nigeria selected Lionheart directed by Genevieve Nnaji as its Oscars 2020 submission to the International Feature Film category of the 2020 Oscars.
The film was produced by Chinny Onwugbenu, Chichi Nwoko, and Genevieve Nnaji. The film premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and was immediately acquired as the first Netflix original film produced in Nigeria.
